Food, Fruit & Flowers

At Bores Bed and Breakfast www.boreasinn.com it is all about FOOD! We get to serve three course gourmet candlelit breakfasts. Each course is garnished with lots of fresh fruit and flowers from the B&B gardens. The inn uses locally sourced food such as smoked salmon, fresh mushrooms and huckleberries in season. YUM!
This mornings breakfast included Susies Kolach [secret recipe] and K.C.'s Berry Buckle [recipe shared with my readers - see below] as well as a baked pear and croissant souffle with chicken sausage. Sounds good, huh?

A Long Drive to A Long Beach

My husband and I love ROAD TRIPS and that's a good thing because as Interim Innkeepers we spend a lot of time driving across the western USA. Our last job was in Golden CO and now two days later we are working in Long Beach WA. That's 1400 miles! WOW!

There are many fun things to do in Long Beach, www.funbeach.org, but one of our favorites is biking the beautiful paved "discovery trail" that runs through the dune grass along the beach for 12 miles. It makes for a great bike ride and the beach makes for a great pic-nic, DUH!

Check out our great pic-nic spot.
Check out my great pic-nic basket.

Rocky Mountain High

12,000 feet- that's high!  Saint Marys Glacier Lake- that's stunning!

One of the thing we love about working in Colorado is that there are so many fun ways to enjoy the great outdoors and of course they are all "research", right? We need to be able to tell guests about our favorite hikes such as the one up to Saint Marys Glacier. This is a real climb and the altitude makes it hard for those of us not used to the thin air. But so worth it and..... we were there during the peak of wildflower bloom. I counted 13 different types of flowers! WOW! Just hard to decide which was my fave.. here are the top three choices -  What do you think?

A Clear Creek

Innsitting isn't all work. When we have all our guests checked in, their dinner reservations are made and we are sure that they are all settled in -then we can go for a little R&R. In Golden we like to stroll the banks of Clear Creek. This is a lovely stream that runs through the town with a paved trail on either side, lots of aspens, willows, rock formations, historic buildings and beautiful bronze sculptures. A beautiful place to walk on a warm summers night.

It also leads to one of our favorite restaurants - Grappa www.grappabistro.com where we are seen enjoying some wine and their Tapas menu.
If you go, be sure to have the lobster ravioli. It is TO DIE FOR!!
